SMEs in Jharkhand are reeling under acute shortage of coal which is necessary for their day to day activities

BANGALORE, INDIA: SME owners across various states are facing a  hard time since there is an acute shortage of coal in these states. One of the predominant states facing coal shortage is Jharkhand.

SMEs in Jharkhand are reeling under acute shortage of coal which is necessary for their day to day activities. The reason for the shortage is reportedly the lackadaisical attitude of the Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) along with the government run Jharkhand State Mineral Development Corporation (JSMDC).

The Jharkhand Small Industries' Association (JSIA)  has stated that most of the small and medium enterprises were hit by shortage of coal. There were other reports that stated that some SMEs managed to get coal, but this coal was of the most inferior quality.

This issue is seen as a threat to the national growth by insiders since SMEs contribute a significant growth share.

Government sources expressed confidence on the issue getting sorted out soon.
