NEW YORK, USA: CEVA, a chip IP specialist has decided to invest in wireless software IP provider Antcor. The minority equity investment complements CEVA's strategy for developing Wi-Fi 802.11ac software with its CEVA-XC DSP wireless platform to support multiple air interfaces and protocols, reports Nicolas Mokhoff of EETimes.
Antcor’s Wi-Fi IP offering includes PHY and MAC layers and its software IP targets applications with multiple air interfaces such as LTE-Advanced, HSPA+, TV broadcasting, Bluetooth, GNSS and smart home networks.
CEVA had invested in eyeSight Mobile Technologies earlier. eyeSight Mobile Technologies now facilitates CEVA's MM3101 imaging and vision platform by providing a software-based gesture recognition capability.
In the beginning of the year, CEVA had launched a Wi-Fi 802.11ac reference architecture addressing both PHY and MAC layers in software, claiming it requires minimal hardware acceleration.
