The Sichuan province signed contracts for 307 projects
CHENGDU, CHINA: On October 27, the 14th Western China International Fair (WCIF), organized by the Sichuan Bureau of Expo Affairs, was closed in Chengdu, with 462 contracted investment projects valuing RMB 563.18 billion, increasing by about 40 times compared with that at the first WCIF (RMB 13.76 billion).
More than 60,000 guests, including government officials, leaders of chambers of commerce and associations as well as top management of Fortune 500 enterprises, attended the fair. The main venue attracted more than 400,000 visitors.
The Sichuan province signed contracts for 307 projects, with a total investment of RMB 368.82 billion, accounting for 65.5 percent of the total contracted investment. Fu Yan, deputy director of Sichuan Provincial Investment Promotion Bureau, said that Sichuan signed formal contracts instead of letters of intent or framework agreements this year.
Fu said: "These projects will be carried out throughout Sichuan province. Compared with the last WCIF, the 14th WCIF was held in an economical way, with number of guests, scale of activities, area of exhibitions and related expenditures reduced by 10 percent to 68 percent."
The 15th WCIF will be held in Chengdu in late October 2014.
