Yahoo! says it's shutting down some of the products in an effort to sharpen the company's focus
NEW DELHI, INDIA: In what seems to be a bid to make the company more innovative and up-to-date, Yahoo! has decided to shut down seven of its old products.
''After much thought and deliberation, we decide to shut down some products. Before making these decisions, we look at a variety of factors. The most critical question we ask is whether the experience is truly a daily habit that still resonates for all of you today. Ultimately, we're making these changes in an effort to sharpen our focus,'' says Yahoo! in its official blog.
The products that will no longer be available as of April 1 are: Yahoo! Avatars, Yahoo! app for BlackBerry, Yahoo! Clues, Yahoo! App Search, Yahoo! Sports IQ, Yahoo! Message Boards website and Yahoo! Updates API.
Yahoo last year stopped some of the most popular products features and services that include Yahoo! Messenger public chat rooms and messenger Pingbox.
Users upset with this decision had also started an online petition against closing down Yahoo Messenger public chat rooms. The petition called 'Stop Yahoo from closing down their chat rooms' is available on on the website - www.thepetitionsite.com.
Angry users have also left several comments questioning this decision taken by Yahoo!. ''Wanna get chat rooms back, otherwise ample of friends made online cant chat. this was speciality of yahoo..... or is else remove yahoo messenger completely, it is incomplete or useless without chat rooms,'' says a user on CIOL. ''I will never ever use Yahoo Messenger OR Yahoo Search ever again,'' To read more such comments click here.

It's a doomsday when yahoo closed the chatroom. That was the main feature from yahoo. Thousands people in the world used it, got a new friends, even met their couples. That was a HUGE WRONG DECISION,!!!! Please activate the public chatrooom again!

I just downloaded yahoo messenger onto my laptop, but I cant find chat box. When I downloaded on my desktop, it went right to it. So where is it. I have downloaded everything.
