The wait only gets longer for consumers in India to get their hands on the Google LG Nexus 4

BANGALORE, INDIA: Gadget freaks in India, waiting eagerly for the new Google LG Nexus 4 smartphone, may face a wee bit of disappointment. The smartphone, which has been listed on few online retail websites, may not be launched in India until January 2013.

According to online retail website saholic.com, LG Nexus 4 will be available by January 15, 2013. The website has no mention of the price of the smartphone. According to some media reports, LG Nexus 4 was expected to be available in India by November 30. However, LG has not officially announced anything on the India release date yet.

The LG Nexus 4 has been listed even on eBay India, but the prices of the smartphone have been increased on the online retail website. eBay India is now quoting a price of Rs. 29,990 for the 16GB version of LG Nexus 4, which was earlier stated to be priced at Rs. 27,490, while price of the 8GB version has been increased from Rs. 23,490 to 25,990. The website mentions that consumers who have ordered the smartphone fron November 14 onwards can expect the product from December 15 to 25.

Some of the features of the LG Nexus 4 are 4.7 inch display, Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 8MP main camera and 1.3MP front camera, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system, 2GB RAM, and so on.

Some of the previous Nexus smartphones such as Galaxy Nexus and Nexus One were never launched in India and the second Nexus smartphone 'Nexus S' was made available after several months of the global release. Do you feel smartphones must be launched in India at the same time of their global launch? Do let us know.

Its too long before they launch the piece in India...most of the people have started buying Samsung galaxy note 2 since the price of nexus is also known to be around Rs.30k. No point in waiting folks as we could purchase Note 2 at Rs.33k due to festive offers this season.

touchscreen of nexus 4 sucks!! though its not a dealbreaker.. software has been optimized nowhere near to phone's capability(snapdragon s4 pro).. so currently it nears the performance of its predecessor(galaxy nexus) which didn't make its way to india as well

It just isn’t possible to wait indefinitely for the arrival of the Google Nexus 4 in India. The jacked up price is another put-off. An option for those who can’t wait is the Samsung Galaxy S II I9100 (Arm Cortex A9 dual core CPU, 4.3" Super AMOLED Plus display, 800 x 480 pixels, 16GB internal memory/2GB user memory, 1080p Video recording/play back, ICS), last year's flagship smartphone, which now sells for Rs 25,900 at the Samsung e-store. Prices at various online stores range from Rs. 20,900 to 25,000 (Flipkart). Another phone in the same price range is the HTC One S (1.7GHz Qualcomm S3 CPU, 4.3” Super AMOLED display with qHD resolution, ie. 960 x 540 pixels, 16GB internal memory/1GB user memory, ICS. Note: the Nexus 4 has a 4.7” WXGA True HD IPS Plus display, 1280 x 768 pixels, 2GB user memory and Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean).

just because a online seller have changed the date of the phone to be sole on 15 jan that does not means it will release on 15 jan --- really Einstein? why will a retailer list the date as jan if it's going to be available earlier? bcause they want to wait for other online retailers to overtake them right?

I think the Nexus phones and fans in India should be treated with some seriousness and respect. The tech companies like Samsung, Asus and LG who have been blessed with the Nexus brand should release the phones after successful aggressive marketing, along with the Nexus accessories. All the other androids aren't good and anywhere near the Nexus series. I am no fan of android fragmentation. Samsung disappointed its Nexus fans in India with the cancellation of the Galaxy Nexus, something that I shall never forgive them for. Asus has released the Nexus 7 tablet at an exorbitant price especially when that variant is outdated in the US, and LG will probably bomb the Nexus 4 with higher pricing. Disappointing for the Indian Nexus and tech enthusiast. Isn't it? Companies...Please! Unleash the True power of the Nexus for the Indian Masses!! LG, I am hinting at you :P

I think dats the reason Samsung is now the leader and Apple, LG, HTC etc sucks coz Samsung understood the potenial Indian market has.

LG and Google can't do this and get away with it. If Samsung S3 Mini or HTC One S release or get in stock before that, I'm buying it.

i am seriously dissapointed.. i've been waiting since long time to buy this phone, but if manufacturer keep same attitude as now towards our country, i might prefer another product. i dont know the exact reason, but if it is something like India is not leading in sells or such... i hope it is not so, and in future, there is some sense of equality. i'll wait for some more time and then, if nexus is still not launched here, i might buy a samsung or sony or such.

These guys don't understand that the reason galaxy s2 and s3 were so famous it was because Samsung never treats india as a second hand country, it launched both the phones in india even before they were launched in U.S. and u can see the result... galaxy S3 beat the 4s in the maximum units sold in the world, and majotiry of which were sold in india..... These guys are dumb... seriously...

add

Sundar Thu Nov 22 at 03:44 PM

India should be not be treated as second hand cheap market or like a step son. The majority of Smartphone Android users are to be found in India, and day by day it's getting more famous. So why so discrimination. I really wanted to buy Nexus 4 the time it was launched at Europe, but alas was left disappointed.

Ravi Thu Nov 22 at 03:25 PM

I have my eyes on this phone. but if they delay so much I can go for other phones. Choice ki kami nahi hai India mein. LG must not underestimate India

add

Divya Thu Nov 22 at 02:09 PM

Yes, it should be launched in India at the same time as the global release. The Indian market, today, is as strong as any other market in the world & delay in the launch proves a disadvantage for some companies as the people go for the other available options, rather than waiting for a phone which has been launched anywhere but India.
