MUMBAI: Unisys Corporation today announced its support for Microsoft's unique vision for unified communications, which delivers intuitive and seamless communications across email, instant messaging, voice, data, video and Web conferencing.

To bridge barriers between disparate information systems and communications means, the company is developing a comprehensive portfolio of consulting and systems integration services along with outsourcing alternatives to enable its clients to achieve unified communication, Unisys said in a statement.

"As global competition continues to accelerate, Unisys will continue its focus on offering clients a portfolio of IT services that will enhance workforce communication and collaboration to enable better decisions to be made more quickly - resulting in more flexible and proactive enterprises," said Jim Boak, vice president, Microsoft and Intel Strategic Alliances, Unisys. "As part of a longtime alliance, we continue to work with Microsoft to develop this services portfolio to assist our clients with defining and deploying their unified communications strategy on a global scale to facilitate communications anytime, anywhere, and on any device."

With this alliance both companies can jointly deploy and manage the Microsoft platform and unified communications solutions to deliver secure business operations for clients.

Through this collaboration, Unisys will work with its clients to create a cost-effective communications infrastructure that will better connect people, information and business processes through integrated technology.

Further, Unisys will work with clients to develop a long-term roadmap for them to significantly improve their existing communications infrastructure providing solutions for messaging migration and consolidation with Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007, and collaboration and business intelligence with the Microsoft Office system and Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003.

The end result is that Unisys helps lower the client's risk for long-term transition and migration to a converged and secure global communications platform, the statement added.
