CALIFORNIA: Network Appliance, Inc. annnounced the availability of the Cisco MDS 9020 Series Fabric Switch for NetApp storage area networking (SAN) solutions.

The Cisco MDS 9020 coupled with NetApp SAN storage is ideal for small to midsize enterprises, offering cost-effective, simplified deployment and administration for customers’ storage consolidation and data management needs, states a press release from NetApp.

Combined with the Cisco MDS 9020, NetApp SAN solutions will provide ease of use for Microsoft Windows, SUN Solaris, HP/UX, IBM AIX, Novell NetWare, and Linux computing platforms.

The Cisco MDS 9020, a 20-port autosensing Fibre Channel SAN switch is compatible with the entire family of Cisco MDS 9000 switches and NetApp storage appliances. 

“Together, Cisco and NetApp are delivering SAN storage solutions for small to midsize enterprises that deliver the flexibility, scalability, and ease of deployment needed to consolidate and better manage their data storage environment,” said Ed Chapman, senior director of Product Management, Data Center and Storage Technology group, Cisco.

NetApp also provides SAN design and implementation services that assist customers in developing a documented detailed design, to configure and execute on a granular implementation plan, when integrating NetApp FC SAN or IP SAN storage systems into the existing IT environment.
