HOPKINTON, Massachusetts: EMC Corporation, provider of information management and storage solutions, said that it is in a deal with BT Global Services to monitor the performance and availability of its MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) network.

In recent years, BT's communication services have extended beyond the telecommunications arena to include emerging technologies such as IP telephony, Voice over IP and content delivery.

BT required a management solution that could provide highly automated and intelligent performance and availability monitoring to ensure optimal delivery of these advanced telecommunications services. 

Through 24x7 monitoring of these critical networks, including IP (Internet Protocol), MPLS and optical transmission facilities, Smarts aims at helping BT maximize performance of its customers' business networks, increase service availability and optimize efficiency.
