BANGALORE: Dax Networks Ltd today launched the PatchSee series of Intelligent Patch Cords, which the network firm termed as an “affordable intelligent product” that the global structured cabling industry has been on the lookout for more than a decade.
Intelligent Patch Cords minimize the difficulty faced by network administrators of large enterprise in handling huge mesh of network cables.
The product makes it easy for administrators to identify the complexities of RJ45 patch cord, thereby helping to reduce network downtime considerably. The product helps in troubleshooting by tracing the cables running under the floor, or identification of required switch ports and user nodes in a network rack.
This is made possible as PatchSee Intelligent Patch Cord comes with Patchlight, a light injection tool. When light source is plugged into one end of the patch cord, the other end of the cord glows automatically, which helps the network administrator to pinpoint the particular dead node without even touching the working nodes.
Terming the product as a high value product for Indian enterprises, Deepak Mirza, director of Dax, said that enterprises can improve on their uptime considerably by installing the cord.
“With the marginal additional investment of one per cent on the enterprise customer networking spend, the time and cost of maintaining the network comes down by 12-15 per cent annually, which translates into huge savings for the company,” Mirza said.
For enterprises, the intelligent patch cord seems to be a good cost-effective solution. For a 1000 node existing network, an enterprise will have to spend somewhere in range of Rs 6 lakhs, and close to four hours, to install the cord in their existing network.
Part of the Apcom group, Chennai-based Dax forayed into Indian networking arena in 1989 and by 1991, had rolled out its PC-based routing solutions. The company network product range comprises enterprise routers ad switches, cabling, VPN and wireless networking technologies.
To its credit, Dax is the first networking company in the world by WiFi-enabling Dal Lake, making the lake in Kashmir the world’s first WiFi-ed water-body.
