Whenever you move your notebook from one network to another, you have to go through the hassle of changing all network settings. Connection Manager Pro saves you this trouble by managing your connections and automatically loading your network settings whenever you switch between networks. Connection Manager creates a new automatic profile whenever a user connects to a new network and saves these profile settings for future use. Each profile stores information about the network types, IP settings (IP address, DNS server, Gateway, Proxy, etc), default printers and e-mail configuration. Here it doesn't matter what kind of network you are connecting through, i e, if you connect to Wi-Fi network it will create a profile for WiFi. Similarly if you connect through your cellphone, it will create a profile which has your cellphone's settings. Whenever a match is found between the available network and a stored profile, Connection Manager can automatically load the stored profile. You can also manually switch between the unlimited profiles that it lets you manage.
Connection Manager Pro also provides support for connectivity options like GPRS, CDMA and EDGE. For wireless connections it also manages standard security parameters such as SSID, WEP & WPA code. Windows XP Firewall Management, third Party VPN support and connection monitor are its other features.
Configure and use
Connection Manager can run on Win 2000/XP. Once installed, it sits on the system tray. If you want to create a new profile manually, click on 'manage your profiles' from the main window on the interface. Click on new profile. Here a wizard will ask you for some information such as name of profile, connection type and creating group of users that exist on that notebook.

Next you will get two options of either using the existing connection or adding new connection. If you want to add a new connection, it has another configuration wizard window. Click on Add to add a new connection. A pop up will appear asking you whether you want to connect through ISDN, DSL or a cellular device. Choosing an option will pop up another wizard, which will then let you configure its settings. Similarly, to configute your VPN settings, on the main screen, click on 'Customize your settings' and then select 'Current profile properties' in the menu displayed. Now click on the Connections tab and choose the connection on which you want to enable VPN and then click on Configure. In the new window that opens, click on the 'Virtual Private Network' tab and select 'Use Microsoft Virtual Private Network'. You can connect and disconnect connections manually, from the main console of Connection Manager.
