Innoviti to launch hands-free mobile fashion accessory
Innoviti will unveil 'Mita' in October-November this year and also plans to market its wireless adapter product abroad
Priya Padmanabhan

The next time your mobile rings, don’t fumble and hunt for your phone in your bag or pocket. Simply push a button on a stylish new mobile fashion accessory called “Mita.” This is the latest offering from Innoviti Embedded Solutions, the Bangalore based product start-up that came out with “Vaayu,” a wireless adapter for dial-up Internet access.

Unlike other mobile accessories like Bluetooth wireless products, Mita would be promoted as a fashion accessory. Innoviti CEO Rajeev Agrawal expects Mita to go commercial in the October-November time frame this year. Describing the specs of the new product, he said, “ We are not designing it as an IT product but as an attractive fashion product. Mita involves a dongle that can be connected to any mobile phone while the other component which is a colorful fashion accessory can be worn around the neck or clipped to the pocket.”

When the phone rings, the accessory would light up and buzz. All the user has to do is press a button on it and talk. Mita uses the 88-108 MHz FM band and is based on a patented nanotechnology developed by Innoviti.

Apart from adding finishing touches to Mita, Agrawal is also tying with channels and retailers across India to promote Vaayu. The company recently tied up with Hi-tech to look after the distribution in the Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Bangalore and Chennai. Last month, the company firmed up partnerships with marketing agents in the US to sell Vaayu across IT retail stores there by Christmas time this year. Agrawal also said that the company would set up a subsidiary in the US to enable better sales and marketing operations.

He is also gung-ho about the future of these products and hopes that Innoviti would break the glass ceiling for well-designed and innovative IT products that are “Made in India.”
