NEW DELHI: To boost the India voice market, British Telecom is planning to set up four offices across the country by May 2007.
The company offers managed services to BPOs, ITES and corporate houses.
C.S. Rao, managing director, BT India said that the company is planning to set up offices in four locations. “We have identified Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata for setting up our offices by May this year.”
The company now has three offices in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.
The company is currently also focusing on offering services to mid-size corporate houses. Allen Ma, president, BT Asia Pacific said that till date they have been offering managed services to large corporate houses and IT companies but is now focusing on addressing the mid-size companies.
“We are also looking at mid-size companies which have overseas site. We will also be offering service to those companies,” Allen said.
Speaking about the National Long Distance (NLD) and International Long Distance (ILD) License Allen said that they have received the letter of intent and are awaiting to receive the operating license. “Once we have the license, we would be offering services on the ILD. We have already fulfilled the licensing norms,” Allen informed.
On the revenue front the company has set a target of 250 million USD by 2009 from the India market.
After the announcement of its acquisition of Mumbai-based enterprise service company, i2i Enterprise Pvt. Ltd, the company is planning to address the Indian IT market rigorously. i2i provides global managed services in arrangement with BT Infonet.
The company currently employs 150 people directly in India, and after the acquisition of i2i, it has added 200 new employees to it. However, Allen denied revealing the cost of acquisition of i2i.
