NEW DELHI: Motorola today announced an agreement to extend its alliance with Bharti Teletech Ltd to leverage its strong national presence.

Launching its new Bluetooth wireless devices for the Indian market, the company also announced to have established Mobile ME as a separate business unit in India to focus on stylishly designed accessories.

Steen Ronholt, director and general manager, Mobile ME high growth Markets, Motorola, said that the company is focusing on the Indian market.

He said that his company is aiming at selling 56 million handsets in 2006 of which 6 million would be Bluetooth enabled.

Speaking about the agreement with Bharti, Ronholt said that Motorola’s products would be available through the 250 distributors with over 11,000 retail channels.

“We are targeting to reach the maximum number of customers with the help of these retail chain. The products will initially be available through our leading retail outlets in 30 metropolitan cities across the country,” Ronholt said.

Among the products showcased today, is the ‘Miniblue H5’, Motorola’s designed Bluetooth headset. It also showcased the ‘O ROKR’, the next generation of Bluetooth eyewear (in pic) with integrated speakers and buttons to control music and phone features.

“Motorola’s latest portfolio of Bluetooth devices will meet the style conscious desires of Indian consumers. We hope that customers will respond to our products, as they are launched under exciting styles and colours with crystal clear wireless for the young, trendy and technology conscious people,” Narendra Nayak, director, Business Development Indian, Mobile ME, Middle East and Africa, Motorola.
