The suite provides a range of multimedia applications for 3G phones based on the latest addition to the TI OMAP 2 family of application processors.

It supports media formats such as H.264, MPEG-4, Microsoft Windows Video and Audio and eAAC+.

"Endpoint manufacturers will be able to introduce new multimedia-rich devices in record time, meeting customer demand for ever better mobile audio and video experiences," said Shankar Narayanan, general manager and vice president, Flextronics Software Systems Mobile Terminal and Handheld Business Unit.

Texas Instruments is one of the leading providers of application processors, with 67 percent market share according to analyst research firm IDC.

According to the release, the new TI OMAP2430 is specifically designed to manage complex multimedia scenarios for 3G phones, boosting video performance by up to 4X and imaging performance by up to 1.5X.
