BANGALORE: Motorola said that the State of Rajasthan has begun taking delivery of its MOTOwi4 Canopy(tm) wireless broadband equipment for construction of a wireless network.
The Motorola network project represents the first state-wide deployment of wireless broadband infrastructure in India, said the company in a press release.
The Motorola MOTOwi4 Canopy network will become the wireless backbone or grid system designed to eventually connect all of Rajasthan's 10,000 Panchayats.
This is meant to enable Panchayats and the general citizen to communicate and administrate seamlessly and efficiently throughout Rajasthan - home to around 60 million people.
In addition to providing connectivity, the CanopyTM network provides means to enhance disaster management capabilities both in terms of emergency preparedness as well as after impact, stated the release.
Firdose Vandrevala, Motorola corporate vice president and country president, Motorola India said, " The deployment provides for eventual high-speed connectivity to several rural locations where Internet penetration levels are virtually non-existent. By advancing the reach of Internet to all areas within the state, Rajasthan's citizens, for the first time, will be able to share information with others throughout the region and throughout the world."
CanopyTM platform is a high-speed wireless broadband solution for cost-effective connectivity for private networks, such as governments or enterprises and for Internet service providers and carriers.
