NEW DELHI: Imaging and communication products company Plustek Inc today launched PlusServer MFA1000S, a multi-function server for home and small office (SOHO) and small and medium enterprise (SME) environments.

Plustek said in a statement that its new server offers functionalities like web email, anti-virus, anti-spam, firewall, Quality of Service (QoS), Multi Router Traffic Grapher (MRTG), voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), SMS, system recovery etc. It also functions as web, email, FTP, PHP MySQL, NAT, Samba, DHCP, DNS and Dynamic DNS servers.

It allows SOHO and SMEs to run their own email services such that company's classified and confidential information is not under third party's safekeeping. Secondly, it lowers the cost and difficulty of running the email system substantially. It is easy to install and easy to operate as it has a user-friendly system interface, PlusServer statement added.

Karen Ku, vice president, Plustek, said, "MFA1000S is packed with features that are sure to attract small businesses. When it comes to its varied applications, it provides a ready platform for e-business and e-learning. Besides its powerful email, security and other features, it's VoIP and SMS capabilities lower the cost of communication substantially and bring business parties even closer to each other by enhancing interactivity amidst them."

It leverages on the strengths of Linux operating system to maximize safety and prevent intrusions, leakages etc. Encrypted data transmission (Secure Socket Layer or SSL mechanism) prevents the password from being captured thereby adding to the security further.

If a company is using two or more email accounts (multiple domains), it is possible to set all of them on a single PlusServer MFA1000S. The mail server software comes bundled with PlusServer MFA1000S and supports up to 500 concurrent users, a Plustek statement said.

PlusServer MFA1000S is available in India at a MRP of Rs 1,10,000 (inclusive of all taxes and duties) from all authorized channel partners of Plustek Inc.
