BANGALORE: Quantum Corp. announced the launch of its SuperLoader 3 autoloader with the DLT-V4 tape drive.

The combination of the DLTSage with the DLT-V4 tape drive, meant for SMBs, is a complete automated backup, recovery and archive solution stated the press release.

Quantum is the first company in the industry to deliver an automated tape solution incorporating the DLT-V4 tape drive, which provides 2.5 terabytes (TB) compressed capacity at an estimated price of about $2,500.

The SuperLoader 3 with DLT-V4 will offer, key features of DLTSage, including: advanced diagnostics and manageability; Write Once Read Many (WORM) capability for regulatory compliance; and DLTSage Tape Security to prevent unauthorized access to data on tape cartridges, especially those that must be transported offsite.

“The SuperLoader 3 with the DLT-V4 tape drive offers robust features and functionality to SMB customers at an unprecedented value – providing tape automation at a lower cost than most stand-alone drives,” said Greg Fredericks, director of tape automation product marketing for Quantum.

As storage needs increase, customers can expand capacity from eight to 16 cartridge slots via innovative eight cartridge removable magazines. In a 16-slot configuration, the SuperLoader 3 with DLT-V4 offers about five TB of compressed capacity in a 2U rackmount form-factor, stated the release.

The product will ship starting January 2006.
