NEW DELHI: Keeping in mind the importance of data stored on desktops and laptops, Sahara Computers and Electronics Ltd (SCEL) has introduced 'Sahara Shield'. Comprising of three-fold features most suited and recommended for any Sahara desktop and laptop, the software offers pre-crash data protection, OS recovery and early drive warning.

Speaking about the installation exclusively to DQ Channels, George Van Der Merwe, COO, SCEL said, "To activate this software, a customer needs to buy a retail version in a CD pack of this system, which have to be installed by the customer only. It is a very simple process and a customer can comfortably install it by following the instructions. For any further assistance, they can always contact SCEL's customer care executives."

Channel partners have already been informed about the Sahara Shield software through the company's regional officers and newsletters disseminated to the dealer community. There is no specific training required to install Sahara Shield Software. SCEL's regional officers will help out for any service related issue.

He reiterates that partners will not be involved in the installation of the software, so they need not worry themselves about it. "Customers can contact our toll free line - 1800 180 7235. If they will contact our dealers, the latter can forward the query to SCEL's team and our engineers will help end-customers in installing the software."

For existing users of Sahara desktops and laptops, the software can be bought at Rs 2,000 plus applicable taxes. And for those who are buying the new SCEL's laptops and desktops, there will be no extra charge for this software as it is part of purchase.

When asked how consumers will come to know about this new Sahara Shield, Van Der Merwe further informed that SCEL has been busy organizing Sahara Computer Caravans for the last six months, where they teach people about computer usage. “And from now on this Caravan will be used as a platform to educate the existing and new consumers about the same. Additionally, the company has gone ahead with ad campaigns in mainstream and trade publications. SCEL's partners are also conducting some promotional activities on their own for educating the consumers,” he added.
