BANGALORE: Pointsec, a subsidiary of the publicly traded Protect Data AB and the provider of the de facto standard for enterprise security software for endpoint devices, has announced the launch of an enhanced version of its flagship product, “Pointsec for PC”.

The Pointsec for PC solution will help enterprises protect critical data on laptops, notebooks and desktop PCs using encryption technology.

This customized version of Pointsec for PC, the only hard disk encryption solution certified to Common Criteria EAL 4, has been designed to assist Indian organisations comply with global security standards such as Sarbanes-Oxley Act and BITS, PointSec said in a press release.

Commenting on the new version, Sascha Beyer, managing director, Middle East and India said, “With recent data thefts and information leak at important and high security zones in India, the issue of data security is more relevant than ever before. According to the recent IDC report, Information leakage was the second most prominent concern faced by Indian organizations. Pointsec solutions have been specifically developed to ensure that critical enterprise data is fully protected and is not available to unauthorized users.”

He added, “With the rise of outsourcing and increased globalization, Indian organizations working with companies in the US & Europe need to comply with international security regulations such as Sarbanes Oxley Act, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, the EU Data Protection Directive and BITS. Pointsec for PC is certified to common criteria EAL4 which automatically ensures that the Indian companies using our solution fulfill the international safety norms.”
