MUMBAI: After being a sub-distributor for some of the leading networking brands in Mumbai for the past 15 years, Hilink Networks has decided to launch its products under the 'Hitech' brand.
Hilink is the exclusive sub-distributor for 3Com in Mumbai and it is also a partner for D-Link, Cisco, Molex, Zyxel, RAD, Systimax, Linksys, AMP, among others. When asked whether the launch of his own networking brand will not affect his focus on the other brands, Hitesh Mehta, Owner of Hilink replied in the negative. "All brands operate in their own space and know it very well. Besides the market is big enough to accommodate more players. I don't think the other brands will be threatened with the entry of Hitech," he claimed.
The brand will use price as its trump card to entrench itself in the market. "Our products will be priced anywhere from 5 percent to 20 percent lower than those of the established brands. And we will target those clients who want value products but at economical rates," Hitesh adds.
Hitesh also revealed that he has signed up three partners in Mumbai and one in Pune already. Initially he will concentrate only on the western region and gauging on the success in this market, he will decide to make inroads into other regions.
The Hitech range will include structured cables, patch cords, information outlets, tool solutions and racks. The products will be sourced from Taiwan. Structured cabling will be the focus area for the Hitech brand, as this is one market where the potential has not been tapped well. "D-Link has already stopped offering 100 meters cable, which will therefore be a big business for us," Hitesh adds. Therefore, Hilink is working with architects and electrical contractors who determine how and which cables will be used.
A replacement warranty for a year will be offered on cables. Hilink has also applied for a 15-year site certification that will help it match the standards set by the leading vendors.
