BANGALORE: Ovum RHK today posted a new five-year forecast for service provider revenues and capital spending. The forecast estimates that the wireline revenues will grow 1-2 percent annually, reaching $812 billion by 2012. Wireline capex will remain flat in the range of $124 billion.
The forecast also predicts that mobile revenues will grow 4-5 percent each year on average, surpassing fixed and reaching $955 billion by 2012. Mobile capex will grow 5-6 percent annually and reach $133 billion by 2012.
"Access network deployment has reached a steady state and wireline capital spending is entering a period of stability," said John Lively, vice president, Forecasting, at Ovum RHK. "Continued erosion of fixed voice revenues will constrain future wireline capex increases. Mobile revenue and capex growth will continue, but more slowly, as older markets mature. The highest growth rates will be among North American cable operators and Latin American telcos," he added.
Ovum RHK's Global Capex forecast includes revenue and capex through 2012 for over forty of the largest global fixed and mobile service providers, among the five major regions of the world.
