CHANDIGARH: Reliance Communication is planning a multi-crore expansion in the northern region, to increase its network coverage in Chandigarh, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh by installing 6000 new towers in the region to increase the network connectivity.
These towers will be set up in cities and villages with a population of up to 5000 and above.
The plan to set up towers followed the positive to Reliance sales.
"Through our new classic range of handsets, we our confident of extending the benefits of mobility to the population in small cities as well as rural hinterland,” said Nozer Aibara, CEO, Reliance Communications, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh Region. “Now onwards, for the first time, cellular subscribers can straightaway walk into our shops and buy a new handset instead of the old one."
It had sold more than 1.5 lakh of classic handsets in Chandigarh, Punjab and Himachal, in a very short time.
