NEW DELHI: Bharti Airtel has signed a bilateral agreement with Russian telecommunications operator Rostelecom to route the directly route ISD traffic improving the quality of voice calls between the two countries.

However, the company is yet to make the announcement. The agreement is aimed at improving the quality of voice calls and offer roaming facility for both the subscribers of the two companies.

The agreement has been signed between both the telecom players on ILD calls under a direct interconnect pact.

Rostelecom is Russia’s national long-distance telecommunications operator. The company owns and operates a nationwide modern backbone network enabling the provision of telecommunications services across the entire Russian Federation.

Rostelecom has a strong position in international telecom segments. The company has established direct international connections with over 100 operators in 72 countries. It also participates in 30 international cable systems and cooperates with 400 international operators and companies outside Russia.

With this agreement both the companies will be at an advantageous position by offering international roaming between both the countries.
