NEW DELHI: To enhance its penetration in one of the highly growing markets, LG Electronics (GSM division) is focusing on bundling of its GSM phones with the major service providers in India.

HS Bhatia, National product Group Head (GSM Mobile Phones), LG Electronics India informed that the company is in talks with major service providers for bundling its handsets.

“We are already in to talks with them and are planning to jointly launch this scheme within a short time frame. We are in to talks with Bharti Airtel, Hutch and Idea Cellular,” he said.

The GSM (Global System for Mobiles) division has set the target of selling five million handsets in India within this year, and unbundling of mobile phones is an exercise to boost its market.

The company had earlier tied up with CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) operators -Reliance and Tata Teleservices for bundling of its CDMA handsets.

The GSM division is planning to launch around 17 new handsets in the India market. “We are planning to launch some new models within this year. These models will include both the low as well as the high segments,” Bhatia informed.
