NEW DELHI: With mobile service providers coming up with new value added services to boost the revenues from the subscribers, this has in turn, fuelled the opportunities for the VAS (value added services) solution providers.

Pyro Mobile, a mobile VAS solution provider, has come up with a dating application, which enables people to enter communities, social networks, forum and blog. The dating application ‘mSinglez’ has been launched through Airtel.

“With the internet boom and technology making the world a smaller place, dating services have taken off across all geographies. The wireless medium being more personal in nature, has attracted companies like us to build community applications by offering wireless subscribers innovative ways to broaden their social network, keep in touch, make new friends all using their mobile phones,” said Nita Grandhi, Regional Manager North, Pyro Mobile.

The dating service is currently made available on Airtel Live (Airtel’s WAP site) for a subscription fee of Rs. 30 per month. Grandhi said that it is a comprehensive service and comes with several user friendly features. “Chatting on the go, searching for profiles, a Love meter, sharing emotions, sending cool-stuff and more are all a few clicks away with this innovative idea from Pyro,” she added. Grandhi said that the unique offering of this application is that a subscriber can gift a ringtone, picture messages while logged on, to enhance their expressions.

Similarly like the dating site on Internet, registered users would soon be able to upload their photos through MMS and view other users’ pictures.

According to experts dating service is one of the revenue earning segment for the operators. The popular dating sites on mobile include the Indiatimes 8888, Rediff, Yahoo and some other applications. Young mobile users have moved well beyond voice when it comes to their phones.

Match-making companies are working on creating new services allowing people to post their dating profile online and then automatically receive a text message on a GPS-enabled phone when a match is nearby.

“VAS solution providers are offering many new applications with added features. Dating applications are being offered by many service providers,” said Ajay Vaishnavi, Chief Operating Officer, Cellnext Solutions.

Cellebrum, another VAS solution provider is also offering Voice Chat for mobile subscribers. “Voice Chat is a service for mobile subscribers who wish to talk and chat not only with the dear ones whom they know but even to any unknown person without disclosing their identity,” said Saket Agarwal, Chief Operating Officer, Cellebrum.

“SMS Chat is another exciting application that enables instant conversation between the subscribers. The service is as simple as sending an SMS, is aimed at providing the subscribers with loads of fun. This is an anonymous chat where the subscriber's phone number is never displayed during the chat and allows the subscribers to chat with any name without disclosing the identity,” he added.
