NEW DELHI: Motorola is focused on tapping a larger piece of pie in the Indian mobile handset market.
The company claims to have brought in design revolution on its handsets in India. After the launch of its colour collection on its slimmer handsets today, Motorola is in discussion with the design department of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
Jim Wicks, head of Consumer Experience Design and chief designer, Motorola, is in India for the launch of the colour collection handsets. Wicks said that they would meet IIT students this afternoon, but denied that the meeting was not on business perspective.
However, it is learnt that the meeting would discuss on improvement of the design and colour combinations targeting the Indian consumers.
“We are meeting the IIT students today but it is not for any business purpose. We are having a discussion about the design of the handsets,” Wicks said. However, Motorola is aggressively targeting the Indian consumers by offering easy installments on its handsets in association with GE Money loans at zero per cent.
Wicks said that among the slimmest handsets of Motorola, Moto RAZR V3i has received encouraging response from its consumers. “Globally more than 50 million Moto RAZR V3i handsets have been sold till now. It has been 18 months that this model was launched. This model includes both GSM and CDMA handsets,” Wicks added.
The colour collection launched for the Moto PEBL handsets are- orange, pink, green and blue. Wicks said that they have reached to the conclusion of introducing the colours on the handsets after receiving consumer’s response on it.
“Motorola had invented the flip phone for the first time in the history and we are the ones to launch the colour collection to suit the moods and lifestyle of the people,” he added.
Lloyd Mathias, marketing director, Mobile devices, Motorola India said that the new MotoPEBL colour portfolio will give consumers the freedom to reflect their own individuality and stand out the crowd with this incredible new colour palette.
