MARKHAM, Canada: ATI Technologies Inc., a $2 billion company in mobile graphics technology, has announced that its MobilityTM Radeon X1600 graphics processor has been chosen to drive the new ASUS A7G multimedia performance notebook.

ATI's Mobility Radeon X1600 delivers Avivo technology for a superior quality, high-definition visual experience with lightening-fast graphics performance. It is also based on the 90-nanometer design process.

The ASUS A7G notebook is an all-in-one digital multimedia solution, featuring 17.1” wide screen display, built-in TV tuner and high-definition audio with four onboard speakers, Web cam, microphone, etc.

“ASUS is pleased to deliver the first notebook with ATI's Mobility Radeon X1600 and Avivo technology to the market and in doing so ushering in an exciting new era in unsurpassed visual realism and performance,” said Tony Chen, general manager of Notebook Department.

A7G's graphics performance rivals that of a desktop replacement notebook, but in a thinner and lighter form factor, making it as ideal for the multimedia enthusiast as it is for the seasoned business traveler, the company said in a statement.

ATI added in the statement that the A7G also supports the current requirements of Microsoft's next-generation operating system, Windows Vista, which is scheduled to launch in 2006. The A7G will be available in Europe and Asia immediately.
