BANGALORE, INDIA: Juniper Networks, has announced that Government of Chhattisgarh, India, has deployed Juniper Networks routing and security solutions to link its public agencies and deliver e-government citizen services that are secured using online validation and digital certificates. The Chhattisgarh Government (through CHiPS, India’s nodal agency for e-governance) is creating a convergent, hybrid network for audio, video and data based on fixed lines, satellite (VSAT) and radio frequency (RF) technologies.

Chhattisgarh is leveraging the high-performance and reliability of the Juniper Networks M- and J-series routers and Integrated Security Gateways (ISG) to support an extensive range of government services, including Chhattisgarh Online Information for Citizen Empowerment (CHOiCE) which offers citizens 130 online government services.

“This is one of the nation’s largest infrastructure deployments to date and forms the cornerstone of our state-wide WiMAX plans,” said Aman Kumar Singh Secretary (IT) GoC and CEO CHiPS. “Juniper’s extensive, proven carrier-grade technology, selected after a transparent bidding process, was a natural fit for our high-performance network infrastructure.”

Juniper Networks M-series multiservice edge routers are deployed by the world's most demanding organizations, delivering advanced IP/MPLS edge routing services at scale. Constructed with clean separation between the control plane, forwarding plane and services plane, the M-series routers support multiple services without compromise on a single platform—minimizing operational and capital costs.

Offering many of the advantages of Juniper’s larger capacity routers, the J-series services routers feature predictable high performance and a variety of flexible interfaces that deliver secure reliable network connectivity to remote, branch, and regional offices. Both the M- and J-series run modular JUNOS® software, Juniper’s single source operating system running routing, switching and security platforms, which offers advanced routing (including support for MPLS, IPv6, QoS, and multicast) and security (stateful firewall and IPSec VPN) services, delivering high levels of security, uptime and performance at reduced operations costs.

Juniper’s ISG is a purpose-built, high-performance integrated security gateway that provides linear firewall and IPSec VPN performance for the latest Internet applications and multimedia content. Security zones and various virtualization capabilities make the ISG ideal for multiple network segments and logically separated networks. Optional Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDP) security modules additionally provide full protection from all the latest network attacks and threats.

“Governments require fast, reliable and secure access to their network,” said Brad Gray, vice president of South Asia Pacific for Juniper Networks. “Chhattisgarh’s choice of Juniper Networks for its high-performance infrastructure shows recognition of the unique value we deliver, combining high-performance and high-availability, to empower programmes and processes that serve vast communities.”
