Check railway berth status on Facebook

NEW DELHI: The popularity and reach of Facebook is just irresistible. The Railways Delhi Division has signed up a Facebook page to inform passengers about availability of berths and train timings, etc.

"Our Facebook page is linked with the National Train Inquiry Service," a senior Delhi Division official was quoted by media.

Not just information on berths. The page also features the timing of arrival and departure of trains with a mention on platforms at New Delhi, Nizamuddin and Old Delhi stations.

It is essential for other divisions to adopt this model given the railway staff misusing their power by providing confirmed accommodation to passengers at a premium.

Currently, the railways has online ticket booking facility across the country.
