Check Point launches security appliances

BANGALORE, INDIA: Check Point Software Technologies, a leader in securing the Internet, announced the India launch of its open choice appliances.

Check Point has introduced Check Point Power-1, a new line of Internet security appliances, targeting large enterprises, offers high-performance sites a simple and easy method to manage security solution with the best price/performance ratio available.

Check Point has also launched the new UTM-1 total security appliances, addressing SMBs, giving them more choice to match the right solution with their security and performance needs.

Bhaskar Bakthavatsalu, country manager, India & SAARC, Check Point Software Technologies, said: "Our objective is to provide partners and customers a single vendor for net security to endpoint security. These products provide customers with the greatest choice for deploying the security solutions, with a unified security architecture, enabling organizations to perform all aspects of security management via a single, unified console."

"We were formerly focusing on enterprise, but today the India scenario is witnessing an SMB boom. With the release of UTM products in 2006, we have successfully gained entry into the SMB/SME market," Bhaskar added.

"Indian SMBs, seeking to leverage the most out of constrained IT resources, want an out-of-the-box network solutions with all the key security features and services on a single console and we are the first of the kind to provide such a product line with 'TotalSecurity'," he added.

Briefing upon the company's India strategy Bhaskar said: "We have 95 percent penetration into the India market. Now, we will focus on educating/training and creating security awareness."

Power-1 appliances combine firewall, IPSec, VPN and intrusion prevention acceleration technologies, delivering a security platform for multi-Gbps environments.

UTM-1 Total Security appliances expand the performance of the UTM-1 line upto 4.5Gbps. This comes with the 'Total Security' package.
