BANGALORE, INDIA:

The indian IT-BPo industry has entrenched itself in the global IT-BPo marketplace, and established itself as a growing hub of high quality IT services and BPo solutions. Despite gaining recognition for its readily available talent, broad portfolio of iT services and high customer focus, the industry has been slow in not being acknowledged as a hot bed of innovation.

It has often been remarked that cutting-edge products and IT have not emerged from indian shores, or gained global acceptance. in a sense, it is felt that india is still in the early stages of product innovation.

However, over the past few years, especially with the rapid growth of the small and medium players within the IT-BPo sector, we are seeing this change. The smaller organisations in particular, are nimble, innovative, and is in the midst of a lot of exciting work that is distinguishing them within different vertical markets and enabling them to build an edge in the face of global competitors many times their size.

Not many may know this, but there is an expanding community of SMEs that is reaching out to no less than Fortune 500 organisations, with its own, home-grown, and unique software products. several of these braveheart organisations have managed to overcome odds, such as low visibility in the overseas markets, poor reach on account of low investments in marketing and distribution, and absence of financial clout to service clients across geographies, and engage with large and hitherto unreached customers.

Of course, with technology changing rapidly, and new delivery models such as Cloud Computing making an appearance, a more level turf is being created, where SMEs can also participate and play. it is no longer necessary for these organisations to spend huge amounts in establishing marketing infrastructure overseas. They can find customers over the internet and deliver their products and services inexpensively over the Cloud.

Nasscom had focused on few such organisations, who have managed to make headway in the global as well as indian domestic markets, with products that answer specific and niche-level requirements of both large and small customers. It found that most of these SMEs have built up an impressive clientele, which includes marquee customers, who trust them to deliver high quality, affordably and within schedule.
