CeBIT India partners with IESA, MAIT

BANGALORE, INDIA: CeBIT India, the world's leading business IT Trade fair, brought to India for the first time by Hannover Milano Fairs, on Tuesday announced its partnerships with India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA), and MAIT, the apex body representing the computer hardware, training and software industries.

The move comes at a time when the Government of India has identified electronic hardware manufacturing as a major thrust area expected to spiral to USD 400 billion by 2020.

CeBIT India, scheduled to be held in Novermber, 2014, will have participation of about 600 domestic and international exhibitors as well as 25,000 buyers. Around 60-80 member companies from the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) and Manufacturer's Association for Information Technology (MAIT) will be selected to participate in the fair.

Mehul Lanvers-Shah, managing director, Hannover Milano Fairs India Pvt Ltd said:"This partnership with IESA and MAIT is not India-centric. We will start with CeBIT India in November and thereafter, take India to the world beginning with Hannover, followed by Turkey, Australia and Brazil where we conduct IT/ICT trade fairs."

"With this partnership we aim to develop the ESDM ecosystem in India, create opportunities for local manufacturing, demonstrate India's prowess in ESDM (electronic system design and manufacturing) to a global and local audience, influence policy making to favour the growth of ESDM industry and promote innovation and new product development" he said.

Earlier this year, CeBIT India signed an MoU with India's fledgling software product think-tank iSPIRT, to promote India as a software product nation, enabling 50 promising Indian startups curated by iSPIRT to display their products at a special display pavilion for startups.

MN Vidyashankar, President of IESA said, the MoU will open up great opportunities in collaboration between global and local players in the ESDM space enhancing B2B transactions. "Japan and Taiwan will be participating in CeBIT India in a big way. Taiwanese firm Epistar, which manufactures LED lamps is looking to collaborate with IESA member companies to manufacture in India" he added. CeBIT's focus on small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as well as its expertise in bringing together domestic and international buyers and sellers under one roof, will help SMEs build clusters of competencies and boost their capabilities, pointed out Anwar Shirpurwala,executive director, MAIT.
