The award is presented to a large company that has helped to grow strategic relationships between small companies and larger firms, and is an effective advocate for small businesses, regionally and nationally.

"We are honored to receive this distinctive award from the Greater Washington Board of Trade," said Bernard H. Clineburg, Chairman and CEO of Cardinal Financial Corporation. "Small businesses are the engines that help generate jobs in the workforce and fuel our economy. We are proud of this recognition; it exemplifies Cardinal's commitment to helping meet not only the financing needs, but also the educational and advisory needs of small businesses in our region."

The Board of Trade recognized Cardinal Bank for its outreach efforts in providing mentorship and guidance to small businesses through its active participation in more than 20 community small business seminars and through its active utilization of SBA funding programs. These initiatives enable small business owners to grow personally and professionally while improving their company's sales and profitability.

Cardinal Bank is ranked fourth among regional bank lenders in the region and 35th among all SBA lenders in the Washington Metropolitan District. It provided over $28 million in loan commitments to small business clients throughout 2007.
