Capgemini drives automation at GMDC

BANGALORE, INDIA: Capgemini, a provider of consulting, technology and outsourcing services, today announced that its integrated solutions system has gone live at Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Limited (GMDC).

Capgemini won the mandate amidst intense product and vendor evaluation by GMDC to meet its business needs, said a press release.

Capgemini's ERP-based solution offering has enabled automation of the corporation's existing processes, across functions such as finance, sales, purchase, inventory, manufacturing, maintenance, HR & payroll, and administration.

This centralized IT system is said to have helped GMDC to go paperless, enabled self service options for employees and also introduced transparency into the processes.

Apart from internal benefits, the solution has also enabled online order booking for GMDC's customers. Both these initiatives have resulted in significant optimization of resources, time and effort, thus bringing in considerable business benefits to the corporation, the release added.

The solution would assist more than 1000 employees of GMDC across 12 locations in Gujarat, including the mines operated by the corporation.

The Capgemini India Local Business Services team led the integration of GMDC's businesses by leveraging its process management and RAPIDX methodology. The integrated system is based on the Oracle e-business suite.

The Capgemini team worked collaboratively with the end-user community at GMDC by conducting workshops to gauge business requirements. This helped propose and implement a solution that was in tune with business needs, the release added.
