Canon targets SMEs to add colour to business

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Canon India, which earned revenues of more than Rs 1250 crore during 2010, is banking high on Indian SME market for its intelligent document solutions portfolio.

Citing the recent studies, the company said that the market is moving from print-based MFDs to copier-based ones.

Despite the fact that colour adoption is lower in India market compared to other Asian countries, the company expects SMEs and government sectors will drive their growth in the country. However, the company said, DGS&D continues to be the largest buyer of its colour products.

Bhaskar Joshi, manager (marketing), Office Imaging Solutions division at Canon India, said that they are seeing huge demand for copier-based MFDs, as colour adoption has grown by 45 per cent during the Q2 in 2011.

“We are aiming to be a market leader in colour segment within next one year as we now have a strong and complete portfolio,” he said.

Joshi also said that the company is offering technical and awareness trainings on colour printing to partners in tier-2 and tier-3 cities. “As part of the educational program, we’ll cover 70 cities with 2,000 potential customers,” he added.

Canon bets on Intelligent Document solutions

With a focus on 'E-copy PDF Pro' and 'Therefore' solutions, the company believes that it will help streamline print architecture and offer higher ROI for managed services.

The company said that with Nuance as their technology partner, the company's e-copy PDF Pro facilitates more productive solution that has direct integration with Microsoft Sharepoint.

“Redaction is a unique feature that can remove unwanted text, if desired. It can automate PDF conversion and manage graphics smartly,” a company official said.

Therefore is a scalable document management solution that offers retrieval and archival as well as improves processes. Cost reduction and enhanced productivity are some of its benefits, the company said.

“It has centralized architecture and help control documents life cycles,” the official added .
