Canon sets up Master Service centers

BANGALORE: Canon India Private Limited, which is in the 10th year of its existence, has inaugurated its Master Service centers in Mumbai and Gurgaon with an investment of Rs 5 million on each of the facilities.

It also has plans to renovate two of its Authorized Service Franchises at Hyderabad and Chennai. The company would also open two more service centers at Bangalore and Kolkata in the second half of this year.

The centers in Mumbai and Gurgaon are the first Canon-owned camera repair and service centers designed on international standards. They have been equipped to handle services of all Canon digital cameras, DVs, DSLRs and lenses. Trainers from South and South East Asia Training Center at Singapore have trained the engineers in the centers.

Kensaku Konishi, president and chief executive officer, Canon India said, "The inauguration of the two new service centers is an extension of our focus on providing customers faster response and enhanced personalized services."

Alok Bharadwaj, vice president, Canon India said, "Canon aims to increase the number of collection points where customers can give their cameras and pick them up after repairs. These will include all our 32 Canon Care Centers spread across India, which are fully functional. This is a step which will bring us closer to the end customer and achieve customer delight."

Overall, Canon India touched revenue of Rs. 400 cr in 2006. It has a Software Development Center located in Gurgaon.

As a part of its 10th anniversary celebrations Canon is working on strengthening its brand in the country and 'Indianising' the brand appeal, which will see Canon embarking on many innovative and exciting programs to engage with customers, channel partners and employees.
