MUMBAI: Cambridge Technology Partners, India, a fully-owned subsidiary of
US-based software consultancy Cambridge Technology Partners Inc, said on
Thursday it will treble its Indian workforce in two years as part of plans to
expand offshore services.
Indian arm managing director Dinesh Puri, told a news conference the
technology services firm will increase its employee strength to more than 500 by
2003 from the current 160. "We want to build ourselves as a top-tier
consulting company and use the cost structure of India to build value," he
said.
The Cambridge, Mass.-based firm, which set up shop in India in January 1998,
has offshore development centers in Bangalore and Delhi. Puri said Cambridge was
also keen on extending its client base in India, besides targeting markets in
other parts of Asia, Middle East and Africa.
He said the Indian firm's expansion plans were unlikely to be affected by the
acquisition of its US parent by business software maker Novell Inc. Novell
announced in March it will acquire Cambridge in a stock swap deal worth about
$255 million. Puri said Cambridge Technology Partners India will function as an
independent subsidiary of Novell after the acquisition.
