In a unique tie-up with Cisco, BT has signed an agreement with Wipro Technologies to provide a fully-managed video conferencing exchange service comprising Cisco TelePresence technology, which would run on BT’s global Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) network.

As part of this tie-up, BT will provide B2B exchange connectivity, enabling seamless video and voice communications between Wipro, its partners and customers, using BT's Video Business Unit (VBU) Concierge service, providing high-definition video and multi-dimensional sound for a live videoconferencing experience.

This solution is an integration of audio, web conferencing and a UC video solution, delivered as a managed service giving users within Wipro access to anyone in an organization from any location to join a conference, across different networks.

The new system is expected to reduce travel costs and improve productivity, provide faster time to market, improved work/life balance for employees, and make for a greener organization with reduced travel.

As part of its BT Onevoice committed savings offering, BT promises customers savings of up to 25 per cent on their existing or new virtual private networks by switching existing voice communications to BT’s converged communications Onevoice platform.

The offering is available to multi-national organizations worldwide, looking to consolidate, integrate and optimise their voice infrastructure, and complements a series of recent innovative feature launches, such as the integration of Ribbit’s advanced voice services, SIP trunking and a Microsoft certification for integration with MS Office Communications Server.

Onevoice Ribbit v1.0 trial, which embeds Ribbit’s innovative voice features into the BT Onevoice solution, makes mobile-stored data available to users in seconds, by simply synchronizing the mobile and Ribbit platform, to enable immediate dissemination of downloadable data from the Ribbit site — especially useful in case of loss of mobile.

Additionally, BT Onevoice’s SIP trunking provides full connectivity between domestic country voice services and BT’s Onevoice global VPN, by offering local numbering for both outgoing and incoming call traffic that can be delivered anywhere on a user’s network. While this service is already available in the UK, the services will be rolled out to the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, the US and Spain in the coming months.

Utilising SIP trunking, customers can reduce rental for access lines, reduce call costs, and improve collaboration for users, whether they be office based, on the move, or based remotely. BT also tied up with Microsoft to allow voice services to be connected directly from Office Communications Server 2007 R2 to BT Onevoice globally, combining presence and instant messaging interoperability with BT Onevoice conferencing, and software-powered voice over IP in a single, unified platform globally.
