British Govt BOXes file-sharing and more

LONDON, UK: Box is working with the Government Digital Service (GDS), the digital arm of the British government, to make content sharing and collaboration available across government departments. As per what an announcement shares - after rigorous assessments focused on security and compliance, the Cabinet Office’s Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO), Mark Fisher, has approved Box for sharing information at ‘official’ level both internally and externally.

“Technology has advanced dramatically and new ways of working can mean legacy IT solutions are not always suitable for today’s government, which often needs to manage critical content easily and securely from anywhere and on any device,” said David Quantrell, Box senior vice president and general manager of EMEA. “The GDS is a pioneer in deploying innovative technology and as it expands its collaboration portfolio it is encouraging wider cross-government cooperation.”

The GDS selected Box to enhance flexibility for file sharing, especially around ‘official data’; improve collaboration capabilities of its mobile workforce; and provide its staff with an intuitive platform which is both secure and easy to use.

Box is already available for British government departments through G-Cloud Digital Marketplace, and in the US, the company has just announced that the US Department of Justice has selected Box to enable enterprise file sharing.
