British Council launches free 'Learn English' platform on Reliance Jio Chat

Adding to its array of interesting service, Reliance Jio Chat will now give millions of Indians to get easy access to free English learning content by British Council. British Council has been a pioneer and leader in English language teaching. The platform can be accessed by Jio’s large subscriber base as well as to any other user who downloads the JioChat app.

It is now launching a unique Learn English channel on Reliance Jio Chat. The free channel will make available high-quality English language resources in multiple formats of text, video and audio. Video stories from British Council’s top offering English Club will also be available free of cost for JioChat users on Jio’s Explore section.

Alan Gemmell OBE, Country Director British Council said, “We are delighted to have partnered with Jio to reach out to millions of Indians and help them succeed in a highly competitive environment ... we want people from all backgrounds to have easy access to English learning and improvement resources. Indians spend a large part of their time on their smartphones and we wanted the LearnEnglish platform to be available to them 24x7..”

The Learn English platform lets the subscribers to the channel access audio- visual that have been developed to improve spoken fluency and pronunciation, and build vocabulary and grammar. The content has been tweaked to suit the everyday use and practical situations at work and in life. The learning will be made dynamic and interactive by the platforms, animation and sound that allows for subscribers to message the channel and receive immediate replies.

The advent of smart phones is no secret and content consumption through these devices is at an all time high. This channel is specifically being designed for the mobile making it convenient for learners to consume byte sized content from anywhere, anytime.
