BANGALORE: Borland Software Corporation has announced the immediate availability of Delphi 8 for the Microsoft .NET Framework. More than half of the Borland customers who are Delphi developers are planning to move to the .NET Framework within the next year. The latest edition of the Delphi development environment enables Delphi developers to use their existing Delphi language and Framework skills to create .NET Framework-based applications and migrate existing Win32 Delphi applications to the .NET Framework.

This new development environment is designed to enable development of applications with Microsoft ASP.NET Web Forms & XML Web services for robust Web development; Windows Forms and Visual Control Library (VCL) Controls and hundreds of included classes and controls; Microsoft ADO.NET and Borland Data Provider (BDP) for high-performance database applications; Borland Enterprise Core Objects (ECO(tm)) to accelerate design-driven development.

"Delphi 8 for the Microsoft .NET Framework is engineered to address the needs of Delphi developers by providing a pure Delphi, pure .NET Framework solution with support for all .NET Framework classes", said Satyen Parikh, Managing Director, Indian Subcontinent, Borland.

Borland is now shipping three editions of Delphi 8: Delphi Architect Edition for model-driven application design and development, the Enterprise Edition for teams building enterprise-class databases applications with Microsoft ADO.NET and the Professional Edition for individuals building Web and GUI applications for the Microsoft .NET Framework.
