Opera has updated the Opera Mini browser for Android users introducing new features and integrations that include India-specific updates on Bollywood and cricket on its home page.

The biggest update, though, is the ability to download videos onto the smartphone from the browser directly. By clicking on the video, a pop-up dialogue box with the option to save the video appears. Users can then hit the Save button to start downloading the video, or press cancel to just stream it online. This feature has been enabled on many websites like VuClip, Hotstar, DjPunjab, Indiamp3, Webmusic, and Djmaza.

Opera notes that the feature only works on video websites without their own integrated media player. Video downloading is essentially useful for users who look to loop videos for whatever reasons, without wasting data. The downloaded videos can be saved onto inbuilt storage or to a microSD card installed in the user's device.

In addition to that, Opera Mini also utilizes what they call “Video Boost”, claiming that users should be able to stream more smoothly, without having to wait too long for videos to buffer.

For Indian users, Opera Mini 18 will show a new entertainment feed on its home page. The browser company has partnered up with Bollywood Hungama for this purpose. It has also partnered with Sportskeeda to give live cricket updates on its home page as well.
