Blue Coat tops WAN optimization

MUMBAI, INDIA: Blue Coat Systems, Inc., a provider in WAN application delivery and secure web gateway, today announced that it was ranked as the leader of the WAN optimization market according to a new report from communications market research, firm Infonetics Research.

The report ranks Blue Coat with the number one share of market during the third calendar quarter of 2008. Blue Coat market share grew by 18 per cent, making it the fastest growing WAN optimization vendor during the quarter, said a press release.

“Our unique, comprehensive approach to WAN optimization combines application visibility, acceleration and security which clearly appeals to enterprises and large organizations,” said Bethany Mayer, senior vice president, worldwide marketing, Blue Coat Systems. 

He added that WAN optimization is no longer about simply accelerating files or applying indiscriminate acceleration to branch office traffic.

Companies need to manage and distribute corporate video and accelerate business-critical applications, while stopping malware and mitigating the effects of non-business applications.
