Sometimes, he writes on his official blog, http://www.thegatesnotes.com/, "It's a challenge to reconcile the extremes. On the one hand, there are a lot of talented people and some amazing things going on there. But there's also a huge amount of abject poverty in places like the Ujariaon slum in the state of Uttar Pradesh."

In order to oversee and review the work of his philanthropic group, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Gates visits India at least once a year.

"People live in makeshift homes and face a lot of health problems. Yet, when I got a chance to talk with them, they're like people everywhere. The people living in the slums want their kids to get educated and they are optimistic that things are going to get better. It was touching to hear their stories," he has stated in his latest blog post.

In his latest tweet, the Microsoft founder has stated, "India is "this close" to ending ?#polio? thanks to @SrBachchan and countless others http://youtu.be/S1dWEWoAtF8 @Rotary."

Not stopping at narrating his experiences, Gates has also posted the first in what he promises to be a series of videos from his recent visit to India. To watch the video of his reflections of India, click here: http://bit.ly/N3rqvF.
