Bharti Teletech bags major order from BSNL

BANGALORE, INDIA: Bharti Teletech, one of India's leading manufacturers and distributors of telecom and allied products, today announced that it has won a major contract from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL), India's largest telecom operator, to manufacture fixed line phones.

Under the contract valued at over Rs. 350 million, Bharti Teletech will manufacture and supply over 9 lakh CLIP phones for BSNL over a period of 5 months, said a press release.

The phones will be manufactured at the company's state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Ludhiana where it has recently invested over Rs. 50 million to augment capacity.

This amount has been invested in establishing a new production line and to further enhance the strict quality control process at the facility, the release said.

Post the investment; the Ludhiana unit has an annual production capacity of 5 million phones.

"We are delighted to win the contract from BSNL and partner them in their endeavor to further increase the tele-density in the country,” said Sunil K Goyal, CEO, Bharti Teletech while announcing the contract.

“This contract not only highlights the high quality of products offered by Beetel but also serves to further our association with BSNL. I am confident that the association would be mutually beneficial for both the companies and the future would see us growing and further strengthening this strategic relationship."

The company's Ludhiana unit, which manufactures telephone instruments under Beetel brand, has set new benchmarks in productivity, the release said.
