Bharti Telesoft’s PreTUPS™ solution has received overwhelming acceptance from operators and subscribers in emerging markets, with millions of mobile prepaid subscribers now enjoying the ability to top up their accounts with any amount. Importantly, PreTUPS has played a critical role in extending mobile services to new market segments, with lower income groups able to afford use of mobile services thanks to the flexible denomination top-ups available via PreTUPS.

With the prepaid segment slated to account for an ever larger proportion of the overall mobile subscriber base, over 85% in emerging markets, and with mobile services now extending increasingly to the large base of pyramid segment, electronic recharge is the most effective manner to perform top-ups – for both the subscriber and the operator. PreTUPS™ electronic recharge provides a key subscriber benefit of enabling micro-recharges, and a major operator benefit of avoiding the high-inbuilt costs of supplying physical vouchers. This enables operators to extend mobile communications to new, previously unserved segments, profitably.

“PreTUPS has proved a real force in prepaid mobile service extension in many emerging markets and we are thrilled to see PreTUPS™ now deployed by 25 operators globally. We continue to add new features to PreTUPS™ to further enhance the end user experience – and to support operators in their drive to streamline operations and improve performance,” explains Mao Mohapatra, CEO, Bharti Telesoft.

PreTUPS prepaid solution replaces scratch cards with flexible, electronic top-up denominations, enabling operators to vend prepaid airtime in electronic form over existing distribution channels. Operators enjoy a range of features that both simplify and speed up top-up distribution and benefit from complete transparency of prepaid transactions
