NEW DELHI: Bharti Telenet, a hundred per cent subsidiary of Bharti

Televenture, has introduced a new voice mail service for its customers using

CommWorks' 8250 Unified Communications Platform. The platform allows users to

combine voice, e-mail, and fax messages in one universal mailbox and manage them

with a single device of their choice, a telephone, cell phone, e-mail client or

personal digital assistant.

The system supports seamless transport over circuit-switched,

packet-switched, wireline and wireless network infrastructures, so service

providers have the freedom to upgrade their networks without disrupting existing

services or existing end-user behavior. Service providers can use the system to

continue to offer simple call answer and voicemail services. Then, as market

conditions warrant, they can transition customers to advanced new message and

unified communications features without investing in additional infrastructure.

Bharti Telenet intends to expand the voice service to feature-rich unified

messaging later this year. It has announced the launch of its voice mail

offering in five service circles where it now offers fixed-line telephony

services-Delhi, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu.

"We require a messaging solution that is highly reliable, that can

interpret and integrate with our existing network, and also one that has an

ability to deliver multiple message formats on a single platform, and we found

them in this system", said Bharti Televentures president, Badri Aggarwal

"The CommWorks unified communications system gives us the flexibility to

offer a comprehensive service, where our customers can retrieve and manage

combined voice, fax and e-mail messages from a common mailbox", he added.

Bharti Telenet Ltd. offers a range of telecom services, including fixed-line

telephony, mobile communications, domestic long distance, and broadband

solutions.

"Bharti Telenet has a clear vision of the opportunities afforded by

unified communications," said Irfan Ali, president, CommWorks. "For

consumers it means any time, anywhere, any device access to messages. For

service providers, unified communications allows them to target new customers,

build brand loyalty and enhance both revenues and competitive advantages",

he added.
