Bharti picks Chennai for DR center

CHENNAI: Bharti Enterprises plans to open its Disaster Recovery Center in Chennai shortly. Though details on this are yet to be disclosed by the company, it is reported that the Disaster Recovery Center is likely to be unveiled in the month of February.





Dr Jai Menon, Director (IT & Technology), Bharti Enterprises said that the work on the Disaster Recovery Center has been completed though the company is not ready to come out with the details of the center as of now. "Following the 9/11 incident, the awareness level on security has risen in a phenomenal fashion in Bharti. Security is the key concern in our organization. From a world telecom perspective, this Center, which is being set up in Chennai, is unique in the sense that we are the leaders to set up a joint Disaster Recovery Center for both our wireless and wired services." he added.





Chennai is a very critical center for Bharti since it houses the state-of-the-art telecom complex (Bharti Towers) that has the main switching center. Chennai is also the southern hub of Bharti's National Long Distance (NLD) operations. It is also the landing point of Bharti's Rs 2,400 crore Submarine Cable Project.
