HYDERABAD: In its bid to improve its existing telecom infrastructure, Bharti Enterprises, a mobile service provider, is looking forward to invest about Rs 150 crore over a period of one year in AP.

Bharti has more than 3,20,000 subscribers within Andhra Pradesh. On an all India basis the operator has about 24 per cent of the market share.

"We are going to improve our existing network in the state. We will be creating ‘travel zones’ where our AP customers travel the most — like Vizag, Vijaywada, Tirupati, etc. Under this scheme important towns and highways will be connected and coverage will be increased to far flung areas of the state," said, K Srinivas, COO Bharti Enterprises.

The company is putting strong emphasis on capacity expansion on all interfaces to ensure congestion free network at all times. "Since the incoming calls have been made free of charge there has been about three times increase of traffic on our networks, so we want to handle this smoothly by having quality infrastructure," he explained.

"A situation has now come in front of the operators to change their focus from tariff to services delivery. As we more forward, we would also be investing to have a strong distribution system in place with world class network," he added.
