BEA tops application server market

NEW DELHI, INDIA: BEA Systems has announced that it tops India’s application server software market with a market share of 30 per cent, according to an independent analyst group – IDC report.

According to the latest 2H06 report, BEA Systems market share in the application server software market grew from 20 per cent to 30 per cent in 1H06 outgrowing global players in the process.

Shailender Kumar, country head, BEA Systems, said, “We are delighted with the outcome of the report as it re-emphasizes the strength of our technologies, particularly in a key domain such as application server software. India has tremendous opportunity for BEA and we have been doubling our growth year on year. Customers are recognizing the need to invest in Service Oriented Architecture and our increased market share just re-iterates that fact.”

“Our continued innovation in application infrastructure, as well as improvement in the areas of performance and scalability provide our customers with a key competitive advantage,” he added.

IDC views the application server as a base infrastructure for a range of "higher-level" products including integration; Business Process Management; enterprise portals and Web services, are all key components of middleware as a segment. Over the last few years, the middleware market in India has grown in prominence and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) has risen to the forefront as a rallying point for deployment in the space. According to Springboard Research, India is poised to be the fastest growing SOA market in Asia and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 49 per cent from 2006-09.

Key customers deploying BEA products in India include State Bank of India, ICICI Prudential, Life Insurance Corporation of India and Indian Railways, among others.
